Jonathan Reitan was born in Salem, grew up in Woodburn and graduated from Woodburn High School in 2002. After living for a short time in Corvallis, he came back to work at the Woodburn Independent as a news assistant and in classified sales in May 2003.
Now a resident of Salem, Jonathan still feels a strong connection to Woodburn as his friends and family still live in the area.
Jonathan has been a church pianist and editor of a small press magazine. He now focuses all his spare time volunteering for local organizations and raising funds for charities. He has served on the board of directors of Salem Rainbow Youth, Capitol Pride and the Imperial Sovereign Court of the Willamette Empire. His annual Red Ribbon Show event has raised thousands of dollars for HIV/AIDS organizations. He likes to keep busy but is just as happy lounging in the sun in the park with his partner and reading a good book.
