Woodburn Golf Club to host Sand Green Open

The purpose of the tournament, according to Mick DeSantis, one of the event’s organizers and a board member for the golf club, is to raise funds and introduce new players to one of the more unique golf courses in the state.

Burning banned in Marion County

Woodburn grad earns his Eagle Scout badge

Akatzin Lopez of Woodburn has completed his Eagle Scout project for Troop 59 of Boy Scouts of America. Lopez, who just graduated from Woodburn Academy of Art, Science and Technology, built, installed and filled planter boxes for the elderly at the Salem Housing Authority, with the help of a large group from his church (pictured above left).

The Gervais FFA Alumni Banquet drew more than 200 supporters to the Antique Powerland and Caterpillar Museum in Brooks on Saturday. Members of the Gervais FFA Alumni, along with current members of the Gervais FFA organized the event to help support local agricultural education and introduce local businesses to the Gervais FFA chapter.


North Marion grad Foster awarded P.E.O. STAR Scholarship

Local grads celebrate a milestone

North Marion High School graduated 140 seniors Friday night in a ceremony at Rolling Hills Community Church in Tualatin. The event featured performances by the school band and choir and speeches from Superintendent Boyd Keyser and valedictorians Serena Sweningson, Josh Hauser and Michael Grigorieff.
