A photo on Facebook of coach Doug Bilodeau holding a sign that reads, “Will Work for Helmets” gained nationwide attention, and has not only spiraled into a viral success, but has established a new style of fundraising that could stick around.

Hubbard resident graduates from basic training

Army Private Jorge A. Tarula-Navarro, son of Grabiel Tarula of Hubbard, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, demonstrated physical fitness and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Police searching for armed carjackers

The victims, a male and female, reportedly stated that two Hispanic men pointed two guns at them and demanded their vehicle near the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

A grand jury determined this week that the use of force was justified in a non-fatal shooting in Woodburn on Feb. 9 and no charges would be filed. On March 20, a Marion County Grand Jury heard evidence on the incident in which Ethan Carey, 31, of Tigard, shot LeJeune Bryant, 37, of Woodburn, after a minor traffic accident on the Interstate 5 overpass in Woodburn.
