Huge crowd at The Estates expresses I-5 traffic fears

City is proposing detour route through parking lot; estimates 10,000 cars per day would use easement

With a crowd of about 500 packed into the auditorium at The Estates Golf &?Country Club, Woodburn City Administrator Scott Derickson discusses the city’s proposal to use The Estates’ parking lot as part of an alternate route for traffic off Highway 214. The concept, subject to approval by The Estates board of directors, calls for linking two separate parts of Country Club Road during work on the Interstate 5 interchange.
WOODBURN — Most residents of Woodburn understand there is going to be a major impact on traffic once the Interstate 5 interchange construction work begins this summer — but homeowners of The Estates never imagined the impacts could be so overwhelming to their quiet corner of the city.
