Columbus Day Storm remembered by local residents

Winds reached 90 mph on that day, lifting trucks, trees and almost everything in the storm’s path

The Columbus Day Storm of 1962 caused havoc all over the Willamette Valley. Trees were upended throughout Woodburn and residents remember most streets being blocked off with downed trees. This house suffered extensive damage when a large tree tumbled over and onto the roof.
For those who were alive at the time, 1962 sparks memories of John Glenn orbiting the Earth and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
