Local veteran remembers 'Forgotten War'

Woodburn’s Bill Hamilton served 19 months in Korea during a war he described as ‘very intense’

When the latest jets at that time proved inefficient for attacking troops on the ground, the military turned back to the famous World War II-era Mustangs to get the job done.
It has been called the “forgotten war” — but those who served in the Korean War won’t ever forget. “President Truman himself called it a ‘police action,’ but it was as far from that as you can get,” said Woodburn resident Bill Hamilton, a Korean War veteran.
