When the latest jets at that time proved inefficient for attacking troops on the ground, the military turned back to the famous World War II-era Mustangs to get the job done.
It has been called the “forgotten war” — but those who served in the Korean War won’t ever forget.
“President Truman himself called it a ‘police action,’ but it was as far from that as you can get,” said Woodburn resident Bill Hamilton, a Korean War veteran.
