Red light cameras still a no-show in Woodburn

Effort to put camera at intersection of Highway 99E and Highway 214 could take years as ODOT’s permit process grinds on

The intersection of Highways 214 and 99E is where the city of Woodburn would like to install Redflex traffic cameras. The city believes the cameras will be a deterrent to people running red lights. The Oregon Department of Transportation does not like installing cameras on its highways, but has relented in other cities.
WOODBURN — After nearly three years of effort, the city of Woodburn remains engaged in the difficult process of trying to obtain an Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) permit to install a photo red light camera at a busy local intersection — where Highway 99E and Highway 214 cross each other.
