Frank Warn, the driver of the tractor-trailer rig behind him, talks on his cell phone after his trailer was smashed by a northbound Union Pacific freight train. Warn, who was not harmed, stopped his truck on the railroad crossing at Hardcastle Avenue while looking for the entrance to the Wilbur-Ellis agricultural facility. Despite flashing lights at the crossing and the blowing of the train’s air horn, Warn, 82, said he was not aware of the approaching train until it was too late to get out of the way. The train could not stop in time to avoid hitting the truck, slicing clean through Warn’s “See’s Candies” trailer.
WOODBURN — A truck driver from San Francisco had his own early Christmas miracle last Thursday morning after he survived having his semi-truck and trailer cut in half by a northbound Union Pacific freight train.
