Barb Bauman helped turn a modest fruit stand into a thriving tourist destination that is Bauman Farms today, home of the biggest harvest festival in the Willamette Valley and home to the Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off competition.
It was the mid-1980s when Barb Bauman and her husband began a roadside fruit stand. At the time, she said, it wasn’t common for Gervais-area women to work anywhere outside the home, let alone in the farming industry.
