ST. PAUL — The St. Paul School Board voted unanimously to hire Sidney Hobgood as the new superintendent at Monday night’s board meeting.

Hobgood is currently the principal and athletic director at Falls City High School in Falls City. He currently lives in Monmouth.

Although the position was advertised as also being the elementary school principal, the school board agreed at the meeting that Hobgood would fit better as the high school principal because of his experience.

Hobgood signed a three year contract with a starting salary of $85,000. This will be under review after the first year.

The contract starts July 1, when interim superintendent and high school principal Debbie Eder will retire.

The school district will now begin its search for a new elementary school principal.
