Police impersonator on the loose

AURORA — A man impersonating a police officer stopped a  21-year-old man on the evening of March 6 in Aurora. He was driving a dark blue or black Dodge Charger with no markings or plates near Highway 99E between First Street N.E. and the Clackamas County Line (Pudding River Bridge) in Aurora.

The police impersonator obtained the drivers’ license, registration and insurance of the victim. After the victim questioned the man impersonating a police officer, he returned the identification and left.

The suspect is a white male, 5-foot-11, around 200 pounds and was wearing a dark colored uniform shirt with no patches and a badge. The suspect was driving a dark colored blue or black Dodge Charger with blue internal lights that appeared to be on the passenger side visor or dash and black rims.

The Aurora Police Department has checked with surrounding law enforcement agencies and this was not a police officer.

At this time there is no reason to believe this is connected to the Portland police case from March 4 involving Paul Winklebleck.

Winklebleck is wanted in connection with impersonating a police officer and kidnapping two women after a concert.
