Maletis brothers cancel talks with local cities over Langdon Farms development
Chris and Tom Maletis tell St. Paul, Hubbard and Aurora city councils no agreement has been reached yet

Monday night was supposed to be the start of a two-day traveling road show, with the city of Wilsonville and representatives from Maletis family debating in local cities about a proposed development around Langdon Farms Golf Course.
Monday, Chris and Tom Maletis, owners of 385 acres around and including the golf course south of the Willamette River, sent out a notice to St. Paul, Hubbard and Aurora that their representatives would not be making a scheduled presentation.
The e-mail sent to the cities said they were cancelling because "we have not yet concluded an agreement regarding the lands surrounded by the Aurora airport, I-5, the Interstate rest stop, and Charbonneau."
The Maletises are curr
ently in negotiations with the Klamath Tribes in Southern Oregon to place their property in trust, then lease it back so they develop what they are calling a "green industrial" project.
City of Wilsonville officials are concerned that once the lands are put into trust, the Klamath Tribes will try to place a casino on the property -- a claim the property owners and tribes have denied for the past two years.
Greg Leo, a contract lobbyist for the city of Wilsonville, said he was still planning on attending the council meetings in St. Paul, Hubbard and Aurora to continue talks about the issue.
"They are our regional partners, so we are always communicating with them, so I am still planning on attending these meetings," Leo said.
The Maletises said in their e-mail that once the plans are finalized they will be back in communication with the cities.
