A Woodburn man was one of two Oregon men injured Thursday in a rollover crash near the Montana/North Dakota border that killed two others.

At about 11 a.m. Thursday, a Chevrolet Suburban driven by a 24-year-old Oregon man was eastbound on Highway 12, about eight miles east of Baker, Mont., the Billings (Mont.) Gazette reported. The Suburban drifted off the south side of the road, Montana highway patrol trooper Larry Adorni told the paper, and the driver managed to get it back on the road but overcorrected, sideswiped a westbound pickup truck from Texas and rolled.

The Suburban’s three passengers, who were not wearing seatbelts, were ejected from the vehicle; the driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, remained in the vehicle.

Two Portland men, ages 20 and 22, were declared dead at the scene. A 22-year-old man from Woodburn was taken by ambulance to Holy Rosary Healthcare in Miles City, Mont., with severe injuries, the Gazette reported. The driver was taken to the Fallon County Medical Center for treatment of less serious injuries.

The victims’ names have not been released. The Montana Highway Patrol is continuing the investigation. As yet, the crash cause has not been determined.
