Crystal Apple Awards Nov. 12

Nominations are now being accepted for excellence in education awards

WOODBURN — The eighth annual Crystal Apple Awards, honoring excellence in local education, will be Nov. 12 at Wellspring in Woodburn. Organized by the Woodburn Area Chamber of Commerce  with title sponsor West Coast Bank, nominations are solicited from the Woodburn, Gervais and North Marion school districts, as well as Lord High School and St. Luke Catholic School for outstanding teachers, support staff and administrators.
 
Nomination forms are due Oct. 16 and are available at the chamber office in downtown Woodburn, at all the schools and school district offices, at the West Coast Bank East Branch and on the chamber’s Web site, www.woodburnareachamber.org.
 
Silverton Hospital/Wellspring and Bowman Family Dental are gold sponsors of the event, and the bronze sponsor is Lord High School.
 
The cost of the dinner is $25 per person, with the social beginning at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:45 p.m.
 
“We anticipate over 200 people again this year,” said event co-chair Ruby Wolfer, of West Coast Bank’s east branch, “and we encourage people to nominate those persons who’ve given so much to our youth.”
 
“We’re pleased to help recognize those who have contributed so much of their time and talent to make Woodburn a great community,” said co-chair Ferren Taylor, of West Coast Bank’s west branch. “We look forward to another fabulous event.”
