* Where are you from?

I moved here about two years ago from Nevada. Since my father worked for the government, I have lived all over. I have lived in California, Florida, Virginia, Maryland, Nevada, Texas and now Oregon

* What do you love about your job?

I love the people I work with and being able to inspire students to try higher level mathematics.

* What are your hobbies?

I love to read, shop, and spend time with my extended family.

* Where did you go to school?

I went to high school in Henderson, Nev. and Southlake, Texas. I got my undergraduate's degree in mathematics from the University of Texas, at Austin and my master's degree in mathematics from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

* What is the craziest thing you have ever done?

I have celebrated pi day (a national math holiday).

* How long have you been working in schools?

I am in my second year of teaching at North Marion High School. Before that, I taught for six years in Las Vegas at Palo Verde High School. So, in total, this is my eighth year of teaching.

* Why did you decide to work in schools?

During college I worked as a tutor and received a lot of positive feedback. That got me thinking about how I could make a difference teaching mathematics.

* What is the strangest excuse you have ever heard from a student?

One time a student told me that her dog went to the bathroom on her project, thus destroying it.

* Do you have a favorite quote?

"Kids make up 25 percent of the population, but are 100 percent of the future." I am not sure who said it, but I love it.

* Do you have any hidden talents?

I'm an organizing guru.

Go to top.
