Allison
Earl Dale Allison, 82, of Woodburn, died July 4, 2006.
Born June 5, 1924 in Clarksburg, W.Va., he moved with his family to the Los Angeles area, then to San Diego and then to Apache Junction, Ariz.
He served in the U.S. Army for two years during World War II and then joined the U.S. Navy where he served for 18 years. He was a veteran of three wars.
In 1993 he married Barbara Lucke. They lived in Arizona for winters and spent the summers in Oregon, settling in Woodburn.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Barbara; daughter, Cathy Galbraith of Ohio; sons, Kevin and Stephen of San Diego, Christopher of New Mexico; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
At his request no services will be held.
Arrangements are by Keizer Funeral Chapel.
Contributions may be made to the Willamette Valley Hospice in Salem.
VanWinkle
Ronald D. VanWinkle, 63, of Gervais, died July 2, 2006.
Born Feb. 12, 1943 in Oklahoma City, he moved to Valsetz in 1948, then to Dallas. He graduated from Dallas High School and had worked for 16 years at UPS and 16 years at Fred Meyer in Portland. He moved to Gervais eight years ago.
He enjoyed sailing, swimming, fishing, target practice, his quad, star gazing, photography, snow skiing and eating cookie dough.
He married Kathy Hudnall in Dallas in 1963 and they made their home in Salem before moving to Portland.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy of Gervais; brother, Rick of Dallas; sisters, Pat Waldron of Amity, and Brenda Graham of Dallas.
A funeral service was held July 7 at Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
A graveside service was held at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Salem.
Arrangements are by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.

Funk
Nina M. Funk, 82, of Hubbard, died July 4, 2006.
Born Oct. 29, 1923 in Dixon, Wyo., she lived in a log cabin on the Wyoming prairie. At age 9 she moved to Utah and at age 11 she moved to Arlington, Calif. She graduated high school in Riverside, Calif., and lived in Costa Mesa and Garden Grove, Calif., before moving to Molalla in 1963 and to Hubbard in 1974.
She had worked as a seamstress, as a checker for Safeway, in customer service for Photo Mat, as a health care provider and in home daycare from 1970 to 1974.
She married Gail L. Funk in 1956 in Parker, Ariz. He preceded her in death in 1968.
She is survived by children, James Funk of Seal Beach, Calif., Sue Coe of Aurora and Linda Wollertsen of Oregon; step-daughter, Barbara Johnson of Phelan, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. July 10 at Hoodview Church of God in Woodburn.
Interment will be private at Molalla Memorial Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel.
Whitsett
Leighton E. Whitsett, 89, of Aurora, died July 5, 2006.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. July 10 at Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
Interment with military honors will follow at Champoeg Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
