Police facility committee receives commendation
By John Gervais
Thrilled by the community support in approving the bond measure for the Woodburn Public Safety Facility, police chief Scott Russell awarded "Certificates of Appreciation" to many of those who helped in a ceremony before the Woodburn City Council.
"Tonight it is my pleasure to represent the men and women of the Woodburn Police Department as we offer our thanks and congratulations on a job well done to a special group of Woodburn citizens -- many of which are no strangers to you or public service," said Russell.
"Over a year ago some of these folks began working with us on a task force that helped us to develop a plan for a new police facility," he continued.
"Through their hard work an ambitious but sound plan was developed and ultimately approved by the council," he said.
Worried that he would forget to mention someone, Russell asked Mayor Kathy Figley to join him in presenting the certificates of appreciation to: Paul Null, Richard Jennings, Jim Wolf, Herb Mittman, Pete McCallum, Barbara Lucas, Phyllis McKean, Dale Nelson, Lynnda Null, Nancy Kirksey and Jason Tlusty.
Russell added, "I will be asking some of them for further assistance by providing input into the final design process."
