July 4th walk/run — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, at 1000 Country Club Rd. in Woodburn, is holding a 5K walk/run on July 4, at 7 a.m., starting at the church building. There will be a flag raising ceremony at 8 a.m.
The church building can be found on the south side of Country Club Road, west of N. Boones Ferry Road, between Miller Farm Road and Tukwila Dr., north of Hwy. 214 and south of Crosby Road.
Woodburn Grange No. 79 to host flea market — The Woodburn Grange is part of a large nonprofit social community organization and money received through facility rental and other fundraisers is donated back into the community to such organizations like the AWARE Food Bank, Meals-on-Wheels, Union Gospel Mission and many others.
One of the fundraisers is the monthly flea market held at the Grange Hall, located on the corner of Settlemier and Hwy. 214. They are held the second Saturday of each month, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and they are accepting new vendors and dealers.
There is a variety of items at the flea market, including hand-made jewelry, Avon, and various craft and collectibles.

City of Woodburn day camp — Beginning June 16 Summer Day Camp through the City of Woodburn Community Services Department will kick off the summer with 10 weeks of camp. Day Camp is open to all kids in grades kindergarten through eighth. Students going into kindergarten pay $70, first- through fifth-grade students pay $75, and teens grades six through eight pay $85.
Themes this year include everything from “Clowning Around” to “Olympics Week.”

Summer breakfast and lunch program — This summer, the St. Paul School District is providing the St. Paul community with free breakfast and lunch through the National School Lunch Programs Seamless Summer Option.
The meals are free to every child 18 and under, regardless of household income. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The program began June 2 and continue through the summer based on participation. This is a great option for childcare groups. Meals will be served at 20449 Main St. N.E. For more information, call 503-633-2691.
Sacred Heart Catholic School summer computer camp — Sacred Heart Catholic School in Gervais is inviting anyone from kindergarten through adults to polish their computer skills, learn more about technology or do some catch-up. Their will be two sessions each Wednesday on July 9, 16 and 23 and Aug. 13 and 20. The sessions go from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 3 p.m.
In the school’s Passport to Adventure, travel the world without leaving Gervais ... just see the places the computer can take you. Cost is $8 per person per session.

Northwest Senior and Disability Services offers lunches — The Northwest Senior and Disability Services offers noon meals at the Woodburn First Presbyterian Church, 950 Boones Ferry Rd. Anyone over 60 and their spouse is welcome for fellowship and a hot, nutritional lunch. Meals are served at noon Monday through Friday. Home-delivered meals are also available for home-bound seniors.

Gervais hosting free lunch program — The Gervais School District is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. The program will run from July 7-31 and is for all kids ages 2 to 18. Meals will be provided at the Gervais Middle School cafeteria, located at 150 Douglas St., from noon to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Kid’s Summer Day Camp at Immanuel Lutheran Church July 7-11 — Camp Lutherwood provides a trained staff of college-age adults who bring energy, excitement and a quality program for children age six (by September, 2008) through fifth grade. Immanuel (in Woodburn) provides the facility, kids, volunteers and continued support for the children and Lutherwood staff. The cost for each camper is $43 ($38 each when registering two or more in the same family). Kids have all the fun at camp at Bridgeport this summer — Bridgeport Village offers cooking classes, hands-on science and more starting July 9 for parents looking for something fun for their kids this summer. Presented by Radio Disney, Bridgeport Village offers a new camp theme each week with hands-on activities designed for ages 4-11. Admission is free.Camp Bridgeport takes place every Wednesday beginning July 9 and ends Aug 27. Each camp begins at 10:30 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m. It will begin with book readings and snacks at Borders, located across from Crate and Barrel. Kids will then travel to the Gazebo, located at the center of the Village, for that day’s camp activities.
Look good, feel better — Cancer can rob a woman of her energy, appetite, and strength. The Silverton Hospital is offering a free American Cancer Society program, which teaches beauty techniques to female cancer patients in active treatment, to help them combat the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. The program will be offered on July 16 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in room F above the Family Birth Center. Pre-registration is required by calling 503-873-1785.
Living Well workshops — On Wednesday evenings June 18 through July 23, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., OHSU Center for Women’s Health is hosting Living Well workshops. Interested people can register at www.ohsuwomenshealth.com, or by calling 503-418-4506. Living Well is a healthy lifestyle workshop for people with chronic conditions and those that care for them. During this six-week workshop, participants will learn real-life skills for living a full, healthy life with a chronic condition. This course is recommended for people with all different chronic conditions and their family or friends. Chronic conditions include diabetes, asthma, depression, anxiety, heart disease and other ongoing health concerns. The workshop will be held at the OHSU Center for Women’s Health, located in Portland at 3181 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Rd.
Cost: $30 covers six sessions and any class materials.
