Nikki DeBuse

Nikki DeBuse is publisher of Woodburn Independent newspaper. She began her career in journalism as a reporter in Woodburn covering police, city government and schools, and served as editor and general manager before becoming publisher in 2009. She is a 1988 graduate of University of Portland, with a bachelor of science degree in journalism. DeBuse is an award-winning news and feature writer, and has also been honored for special section design.
She is past president of the Woodburn Rotary Club, has served on the Woodburn Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors and is past president of Love, Santa Inc., a local non-profit that provides food and toys during the holidays. She also serves on the board of directors for Woodburn's Main Street program and Woodburn Downtown Association, focusing on revitalization of the historic downtown area where Woodburn Independent's office is located.
Nikki lives in Woodburn with her two children, Alex and Trinity. The family spends summers outdoors, camping along the McKenzie River and exploring decomissioned fire lookouts.
