Huskies hungry to return to gridiron

AURORA — North Marion’s football team was rolling through opponents last year before losing all-league running back Jordan McCain to a broken arm. The Huskies ended the season on a three-game losing streak, including a 42-14 loss to Banks in the first round of the Class 4A state playoffs. They finished the season 7-4 overall and 4-2 in league play, dropping a 13-0 decision to Stayton for the league title in the season’s final week.

WOODBURN — Several years ago, the idea of Woodburn winning the Mid-Willamette Conference title in cross country seemed far-fetched, at best.  After the boys team placed third at the district meet last season and missed qualifying for state as a team by a mere two points, a conference title no longer seemed out of reach.

Bucks seeing fringe benefits of state title run

PAUL — In 8-man football, no team has ever scored more points than St. Paul did in 2009.  With a senior-laden roster, the high-powered Bucks offense racked up over 800 points during the year and won the majority of their games in blowout fashion, en route to winning the Class 1A state championship.
