Marion County cuts will hurt children most

According to a Marion County official, losing about $100,000 in funding will cause the county child abuse rate to increase. That is on top of another $100,000 just a few months ago. Marion County already is above the state average for counties in Oregon. “It is a certainty that more children in Marion County will suffer child abuse, will become victims of violence at the hands of their parents,” said Alison Kelley, director of the Marion County Children and Families Department.
