Streamliner

Tuesday, Jul 17, 2012

Doug Burkhardt

Union Pacific Railroad’s special 150th anniversary train passes by on its way from Portland to Eugene last Wednesday. Three 1950s-era “Streamliner” locomotives pulled the train, seen here just north of Gervais. The southbound Streamliners came through the area at about 7:40 p.m. on July 11, a little later than scheduled. The unique excursion was part of a celebration of the railroad’s long history in business: Union Pacific was formed on July 1, 1862.
