Trying to grow during a recession

Although the nation’s continuing economic recession has cut demand and created oversupply in the marketplace, Tom DeArmond Jr.’s family business, Hubbard-based Oregon Turf &?Tree Farms, remains a strong player in the state’s grass seed and turf sector. Oregon’s fertile Willamette Valley is known as the “grass seed capital of the world,” and Oregon Turf &?Tree Farms has been in the business since the 1940s.
