Max, the Woodburn Police Department’s highly-trained patrol dog, will soon have two new K-9 partners to assist in the fight against crime. Thanks to a generous donation from an anonymous benefactor, the city will be able to add two more police dogs over the next several months. Max is a Belgian Malinois, a breed the American Kennel Club describes as “an alert, high-energy breed, popular as both a police and military working dog.” The AKC adds that the Malinois is sometimes mistaken for a German shepherd, but “the Malinois is more elegant in build and lighter-boned, but does not lack for strength and agility.” Woodburn police officials said the new dogs will be either Malinois or German shepherds.
