A long time in the works

Fifth Street was blocked off many years ago, but it was never destined to be a permanent dead end, according to Woodburn Public Works Director Dan Brown. The city now wants to open it up to Highway 214 to alleviate traffic away from Settlemier Avenue and downtown. The Oregon Department of Transportation would eventually add a stop light to the intersection.
