across Oregon will be asked to weigh in on a total of nine statewide ballot

Wage theft is wrong. We can all agree on that. In today’s
Woodburn Independent, we look at the growing problem in Woodburn. Northwest
Treeplanters and Farmworkers United (PCUN) has valiantly been working with the
state of Oregon to bring justice to workers who are not paid for completing
jobs they were hired for.

People often joke or complain about members of Congress not
fully reading the bills they are voting on. Well, the same thing appears to
have happened with the Woodburn City Council.

Those who live in House District 22 have a difficult choice
in front of them. You have three-term incumbent Betty Komp (D-Woodburn) and
challenger Kathy LeCompte (R-Brooks).

Voters in Ward 6 are the only people in Woodburn who have a
choice this election season: incumbent Eric Morris or challenger Gevin Gregory.
It’s the only contested race on the council and voters need
to ask themselves one question: Do we like how things are going at City Hall?
We do, and that is why we endorse Eric Morris for city council.

Every two years, voters in Oregon must decide anew who to
send to Washington, D.C., to represent them in the halls of Congress.
In Oregon’s Fifth Congressional District, we believe the
incumbent, Kurt Schrader, deserves to be re-elected to a third two-year term.

Voters in Mount Angel and Gervais have easy decisions to
make this November. Voters in both communities are being asked to vote on bond
measures that will ensure cost savings down the road and much-needed equipment
upgrades.
