WOODBURN — Woodburn Public Works Department and Allied Waste Services are teaming up to provide local residents with Christmas tree recycling.
All holiday trees must be free of decorations before being recycled.

WOODBURN — The city of Woodburn is hosting an open house Jan. 23 for the presentation of recently proposed projects to restore the park.
The city has proposed to initiate a project at Wyffels Park that will restore Mill Creek and the adjoining wetland areas to a more natural state.

Woodburn’s Got Talent Third Thursday begins the new year on Jan. 17 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Chu’s Restaurant.

The first day to file for the May 21 general election is Feb. 9, and multiple school board positions in the area are up for grabs.
All positions are for terms of four years, from July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2017.

WOODBURN — The Woodburn Police Department will be holding its first Citizen’s Police Academy for 2013 starting Feb. 21 through the end of March. The police academy is a six-week course consisting of a three-hour class each week on topics such as personal safety, drugs and the drug K-9, gangs, police response, being a good witness and more.
